First the Bain back-story ... that is impacting Middle Class American Jobs, even as you read this.
Here Is What's Happening at the Bain-Owned Auto Parts Manufacturer Sensata
by Dave Johnson, truth-out.org -- Oct 16, 2012
[...] Bain Capital purchased a sensor manufacturer that makes key components for our automobile supply chain, and named it Sensata. They immediately announced they closing a factory in Freeport, Ill., and sending the manufacturing and jobs to China to save money. (This is significant because China is engaged in efforts to dominate American auto supplies. See China Cheating Costs 400K Auto Parts Jobs and Why The Latest Trade Complaint Against China Matters. )Did Romney show up to stand with the workers -- that his "harvesting" Business Model routinely sends to the 47% Unemployment lines -- all without severance pay?Bain/Sensata brought in Chinese workers and made the Freeport workers train them. Bain/Sensata is moving the equipment out of the Freeport factory and shipping it to China right now. The Freeport employees have set up a camp outside the factory that they call Bainport and are trying to stop the Bain trucks that are moving the equipment out for shipment to China. Supporters were arrested this week, trying to stop those trucks. [...]
This is an opportunity for Romney to show the public that he actually means it when he says he wants to do something about companies sending jobs to China! Here is his former company, people who know him, sending jobs to China right now and there is no one in a better position to put pressure on them to stop this than the former head of the company, and on top of that a presidential candidate! [...]
Hell no, he didn't. Turns out Mitt Romney kind of likes the cheap labor-pool in China. Despite his tough talk to the contrary.
The Jobs at Sensata are the epitome of good Middle Class jobs -- they start at $17 and hour. The company was making record profits building auto parts and sensors, important to keeping a strong manufacturing base, here in America. There was nothing there "to fix" when Bain took them over.
All that doesn't matter to the Bain Corporate Raiders.
NOT keeping good Jobs here in America.
NOT keeping America's manufacturing base strong, against our foreign competition.
NOT giving a "take-over target" a fighting chance to "adapt and survive" ...
All that matters to the Bain-equity-share-owners -- including Romney's $8M worth --
is the Outsourcing Tax Credit and the sub- $1 starting wages the Owners will end up paying the Chinese replacement workers.
Explain THAT -- to the Ed Show camera? Hell no, they won't.
Vultures prefer to do their work in private, far from the national glare ...
BREAKING: Sensata temporarily closes plant in response to tonight’s ‘ED Show’ broadcast
by Steve Frank, tv.msnbc.com -- 10/19/2012
Bainport.com reports that in response to Friday’s live broadcast of The Ed Show on MSNBC, Sensata sent workers in Freeport, Illinois, home (with pay) today and closed the auto sensor plant for the entire weekend, barricading the entrances and telling second shift workers not to report.Ed did the show anyways. It was a stellar performance too.The Ed Show announced earlier this week that it was going to broadcast from Freeport, Illinois, on Friday to cover Sensata’s planned plant closure and to examine whether workers were getting a fair severance package.
Despite a record profit last year, 170 Sensata Technologies workers are losing their jobs in December to China thanks to the greedy bullies at Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital. [...]
The Ed Show at Bainport
These are real American workers, losing good American jobs, to the Business Model that Mitt Romney pioneered.
And Mitt Romney is "too far removed from it all" to bother to see, up close and personal, what his "China Job creating" formula has done, here at home in Freeport IL ...
Thankfully, Ed Schultz was not. Not too "too far removed" to give these Bain-outsourced workers a national platform. And a still hopeful democratic-leaning Voice.
